Setting Up Exam Results and Grade Sheets — A Step-by-Step Guide
One of the most time-consuming tasks in any coaching center is managing exam results. Creating mark sheets, calculating percentages, assigning grades, identifying pass/fail — manually, this can take a teacher an entire afternoon. Here's how to do it in minutes.
Step 1: Configure your grading system
Before creating exams, set up your grading scale in Settings → System → Grading Systems. A typical Bangladesh coaching center scale:
| Grade | Range | GPA | |-------|-------|-----| | A+ | 80–100% | 5.0 | | A | 70–79% | 4.0 | | A- | 60–69% | 3.5 | | B | 50–59% | 3.0 | | C | 40–49% | 2.0 | | D | 33–39% | 1.0 | | F | 0–32% | 0.0 |
You can define your own ranges — this is fully configurable.
Step 2: Create the exam
Navigate to Exams → Create Exam. Fill in:
- Exam title (e.g., "Physics Mid-Term 2025")
- Batch (selects which students are eligible)
- Total marks (e.g., 100)
- Pass mark (e.g., 33)
- Exam date
Step 3: Enter results
After the exam, open the exam and click "Enter Results". You'll see a grid of all enrolled students. Enter each student's marks obtained. The system will automatically:
- Calculate percentage (
marks_obtained / total_marks * 100) - Assign grade letter based on your grading scale
- Mark pass or fail
- Flag absent students
For large batches, you can import marks from a CSV file.
Step 4: Publish results
Once you've reviewed the results, click Publish. Students can immediately see their marks in the Student Portal.
Step 5: View batch performance
After publishing, the Batch Performance report shows:
- Average marks for the batch
- Highest and lowest scores
- Grade distribution pie chart
- Students who failed (for follow-up)
Pro tip: Pending evaluations
CampusQ automatically tracks which exams have unmarked students. Your Teacher Dashboard shows "Pending Evaluations" — so nothing falls through the cracks.
Setting this up takes about 5 minutes per exam. Once configured, the system handles all the calculation work.
