Getting started
Getting started: set up your centre
Sign up, run the five-step setup wizard, work through the Getting started checklist, and decide whether to explore with demo data first.

What you'll do
Take a brand-new CampusQ account from empty to usable: name your centre, create your first course and batch with a fee and a weekly schedule, add a few students, and take your first attendance. The wizard does this in five steps and takes about ten minutes.
Before you start
- Your centre's name as you want it printed on receipts and report cards.
- One course and one batch you actually teach, with its monthly fee in taka and the days and times it meets.
- A handful of student names with mobile numbers in
01XXXXXXXXXform. You can skip this and add students later. - You must be signed in as the account owner or another user with the Settings read permission — that is what gates the setup screens.
Sign up and get in
- On campusqbd.com, choose Start Free Trial and fill in the sign-up
form: your coaching centre name, a workspace identifier, your name, username,
WhatsApp number and a password. The workspace identifier becomes your
address, so
demo-science-academygives youdemo-science-academy.campusqbd.com. - Confirm the six-digit code we send to your mobile number.
- When the code is accepted your centre is created and we sign you in on your own address automatically. If that hand-off does not complete — a slow network, or you navigated away — use Sign in to your site on the success screen and log in with the username and password you just chose.
- You land on the dashboard. Because the centre has no students and no courses yet, it greets you with Welcome to CampusQ and a single button, Set up your centre. That button opens the wizard.
The wizard also lives permanently in the sidebar under Setup & Administration as Getting Started, so you can leave it half-finished and come back.
Run the setup wizard
The wizard is at /setup, titled Set up your centre, with a progress bar
across the top. Five steps, each with Back and Next.
Step 1 — Name your centre
Fill in Centre name. The hint under the field is the important part: This appears on receipts, report cards and the app. Type the name the way a guardian should read it, not an abbreviation.
This step is also the only place you will see Explore with demo data. Read the demo-data section below before you press it.
Step 2 — Create your first course & batch
Four fields:
| Field | What to put in it |
|---|---|
| Course name | The subject you teach, e.g. HSC Physics. |
| Batch name | The specific group, e.g. Morning Batch. |
| Batch fee (৳) | Required. The hint reads Used as each student's enrollment total — you can adjust per student later. |
| Max students | Capacity. Defaults to 30. |
There is also an AI shortcut. Under Describe your centre and let AI fill this in, type a sentence in Bangla or English — for example HSC physics and chemistry coaching in Dhanmondi, 2000tk/month — and press Suggest. The button unlocks once you have typed at least ten characters. The assistant fills the four fields above and nothing else; it creates no records. Its own hint says so: Suggestions only — edit anything before saving. Read every field before pressing Next.
Step 3 — Set the weekly class schedule
Give the batch a Start date and End date (the form pre-fills today and three months out), then one row per class day: a weekday, a start time and an end time in 24-hour form. Add another day adds a row; the ✕ at the end of a row removes it.
This step matters more than it looks. As the hint says, CampusQ generates the dated class sessions so attendance works from day one. Attendance is taken against a generated session, so a batch with no schedule has nothing to mark.
Step 4 — Add a few students
Three empty rows, each wanting a Student name and a phone number in
01XXXXXXXXX form. Add another gives you more rows. Press Add & finish,
or Skip for now if you would rather import a list later.
Rows with a phone number that is not eleven digits starting 01 are dropped, and
you are told how many: Some rows skipped — N row(s) were skipped (e.g. duplicate
or invalid phone). Check the count against the number of rows you filled.
Students added here are enrolled in the batch you just created, at the fee you set in step 2.
Step 5 — You're all set
A summary of how many students were added and enrolled, then two buttons: Mark attendance and Go to dashboard. Taking one attendance now is worth the minute, because it proves the schedule in step 3 generated sessions correctly.
Work through the Getting started checklist
Back on the dashboard, a panel headed Getting started tracks the seven jobs
that make a centre operational, with an N of 7 done counter. Each line links
straight to the screen that finishes it:
- Create a course
- Create a batch with a fee and weekly schedule
- Add a teacher
- Add students
- Enroll students in a batch
- Take your first attendance
- Record your first fee payment
Open setup wizard at the bottom of the panel returns you to /setup. The ✕
in the corner (Dismiss checklist) hides the panel for good; the checklist
also disappears on its own once all seven are done. There is no way to bring it
back from the dashboard, so dismiss it only when you mean it — the sidebar's
Getting Started entry still reopens the wizard.
Finding your way around
The sidebar carries eight destinations, and everything in the product lives under one of them:
- Today — the dashboard: the day's money and what still needs doing.
- Students — the roster, admission approvals and enrolments.
- Classes — batches, courses, the class schedule, attendance and course content.
- Teachers — teacher records, their attendance, payments, payroll and incentives.
- Money — payments, fee invoices, the cash book, money accounts and the bookstore.
- Exams — exams, results, the question bank and online exams.
- Messages — announcements, broadcasts and the SMS composer.
- Reports — every report, in one place.
Setup and administration are not in the sidebar. Getting Started, Configurations, Settings and Roles and staff access live in the menu under your profile picture, top right — you set them up once when the centre starts and rarely touch them again, so they do not take a permanent slot beside the day's work.
You only ever see what your permissions allow. A destination whose contents you cannot open does not appear at all, so the menu you see is the menu that works for you.
The search box, and Ctrl + K
Next to your profile picture is a search box. It is the fastest way to get anywhere, and it does three things at once:
- Go to any screen by typing part of its name, in Bangla or English.
- Find a student or a batch by name, and land straight on their record.
- Do a common job — record a payment, mark attendance, send a due reminder, add a student — which opens the right screen ready to start.
Press Ctrl + K (⌘K on a Mac) to open it from anywhere without reaching for the mouse, then the arrow keys and Enter to choose. Esc closes it. For a front desk doing the same task eighty times a day, this is usually quicker than the sidebar.
Exploring with demo data
Explore with demo data on step 1 of the wizard fills your centre with synthetic students and class sessions so you can click around a populated system — reports, attendance and enrollment screens all look empty otherwise. You are told what was created: N demo students and N class sessions created.
Three things to know before you press it, because they surprise people:
- There is no confirmation prompt. One click seeds the data.
- You cannot remove it from the app. The success message points at Settings, but no such control exists in the interface as it ships today. Removing demo data currently needs a request to support.
- The button disappears afterwards. You cannot seed a second time.
So: press it on a trial centre you are evaluating, and do not press it on the account you intend to run your real students in. If you have already seeded and want a clean start, ask support rather than trying to delete the records by hand — demo enrollments have consumed roll numbers, and roll numbers are deliberately never re-issued.
Notes
- Every example in this manual is invented.
Demo Student 1,+8801700000001and names like Demo Science Academy are placeholders. Never paste a real student's details into a support ticket or a screenshot. - The centre name is document control. It prints on receipts, registers and report cards. Changing it later does not retro-fit documents you already printed, so get it right at step 1.
- The wizard is not a one-off. Re-opening
/setupafter the fact is safe; it is the same five steps against your existing data. - Times are 24-hour, dates are shown in your own language's format, and money is in taka.
Troubleshooting
The wizard says my fee field is required and I do not charge a batch fee.
Enter 0. The fee becomes each student's enrollment total, and you can adjust an
individual enrollment later.
Suggest does nothing. It stays disabled until your description reaches ten characters. If it runs and reports The assistant could not derive suggestions, fill the four fields yourself — nothing is lost.
Attendance says "No sessions yet. Configure the batch schedule first." The batch has no weekly schedule, so no dated sessions exist. Go back to the batch and add class days and times; sessions are generated from them.
I signed up but landed on a login form instead of my dashboard. The automatic sign-in is best-effort and expires after ten minutes. Sign in normally with the username and password from the sign-up form; nothing about your centre is affected.
The dashboard welcome card is gone but I have not finished setting up. The card only shows while the centre has no students and no courses. Use Getting Started in the sidebar under Setup & Administration.
