Teacher attendance

Keep a teacher attendance register: mark a day or a whole month, correct any cell, print the register, and read the weekly anomaly digest.

Last updated August 17, 2026

What you'll do

Record which teachers were in on which day, correct any day later, and print the register for a range you choose.

Before you start

The teacher attendance register

Go to Teacher AttendanceTeachers down, dates across. Click any cell to mark or correct a day. That subtitle is the interface: a grid, not a form.

Set From and To — it opens on the first of the current month through today — optionally narrow to one Teacher (All teachers by default), and press Apply.

There are four statuses, and the grid shows them as single letters:

LabelLetterUse it for
PresentPIn, on time.
LateLIn, but late. Counts toward the percentage.
AbsentANot in.
LeaveVApproved absence.

An unmarked cell shows ·, and the legend under the grid repeats it: P = present, L = late, A = absent, V = leave, · = not marked. The last columns count each letter and give a percentage — which reads , not 0%, when nothing has been marked. That difference matters: nothing marked is not the same as everybody absent.

Click any cell to mark or correct it. The dialog is Mark attendance, showing on , with Status, an optional RemarksReason for this mark (optional) — and a note worth reading: Marking by hand is recorded as an override, with your name and the time. Who marked a day, and when, stays on the record permanently.

For a whole day at once, Mark day opens Mark the whole day: pick a Date, use All Present, All Late, All Absent or All Leave to set the column, correct the exceptions, then Save day. The rows start from whatever is already marked, not from a blanket Present.

Print register produces Teacher Attendance Register for the selected range. It is English only, and it prints nothing if nothing has loaded: There is nothing to print yet.

The weekly digest

Both attendance screens carry a Weekly attendance digest card: An AI summary of last week's attendance anomalies — teacher late patterns and students whose attendance dropped sharply. Press Generate digest.

You get the week's dates, a short written summary, and two lists of findings — Teacher findings and Student findings — with the actual counts behind each one. The figures come from your records; only the prose is written by the model, and when the model is unavailable the app says so and keeps the numbers: The written summary is unavailable right now. The figures below come straight from your records and are unaffected.

Read it as a prompt to look, not as a conclusion. A student flagged for a sharp drop may have been ill; the digest cannot know that. The card does not appear at all if your installation has no AI key configured.

Notes

  • The register is a grid, not a session list. Unlike student attendance, teacher attendance is per teacher per day and is not attached to a class session.
  • Hand-marking is recorded as an override, with your name and the time.
  • The printed register is English only, like the other printables.
  • Attendance records are audit evidence. The underlying event stream is append-only and records who marked what and when.
  • Synthetic examples only. Any teacher name shown here is invented.

Troubleshooting

The percentage column shows an em dash. Nothing has been marked in the range yet. That is different from zero attendance, and shown differently on purpose.

A teacher is missing from the grid. The register lists the teachers on your system. Add them first — see Teachers and the teacher portal.

I can see the register but cannot change anything. Marking needs Teacher Attendance create; reading it only needs read. See Roles and staff access.

Nothing prints. There is nothing to print yet. Apply a range that has data first.
